Bed Benches - You Should Appreciate the Extra Storage Space They Provide

Could your bedroom use space to sit down? Many bedrooms have the essentials, a bed, dresser and possibly an armoire and a pair of nightstands. While this will take care of the jobs that need to be done in this space, there are often things you just wish
you had to complete the room. One of those things is an extra place to sit.
While sitting on the bed is comfortable enough, if you are trying on shoes or changing a part of your outfit you may not want to have to balance on an overstuffed pillow-top mattress. Or, if you have already made the bed, you may not want to mess it up. This is when you will start looking for another seating option.
The easiest answer is to get a chair and put it in the bedroom, but this is often not the best option to choose. While a chair will do the job, why wouldn't you choose a solution that can do more for you? This is when bed benches can come to the rescue.
While there are some bed benches that are much like chairs, and just offer a seating area, there are others that have a little more oomph and are instead storage units as well. Under the seat of these bed benches is a large storage chest where a number of things can be placed.
Precious Items
Many people use the chest beneath their bed benches for precious items. From family photo albums to the baby's clothes, there are plenty of special things you want to put away and keep for the years to come. The storage space under bed benches is the perfect place for this, as you know those special things will always be nearby. Just remember to put mothballs in the bed benches if you have clothing items inside.
Winter Clothes
Where do you put your winter clothes once the frost has gone away? Most people have boxes and bins stacked up in their closet for all those heavy items they don't need the rest of the year. But that just means more boxes and bins that are taking up all the room in your closet. Instead, use bed benches as your excess storage space for winter clothes. That will leave your closet with plenty of extra storage all year long.
Blankets and Linens
If you are sorting out sleeping solutions to the other rooms in your home, you may want to put bed benches in these rooms as well. Not only will you once again be creating a great space for someone to sit down to remove their shoes or sort out their clothes for the day, but the storage area can also be a place where they can go to find any of the extra linens they may need. The important thing to remember is that those linens need to be washed from time to time, even if you don't have a lot of guests, because they can get musty from sitting in the chests all year long.
